Buford Family Papers
This collection contains the personal papers of the Buford family. Materials include family tree information, correspondence, financial documents, photos, school report cards, a will, business cards, a World War I military enlistment application, a booklet from the U.S. Treasury Department, and a news bulletin about oil stocks.

Literary rights were not granted to Wichita State University. When permission is granted to examine the manuscripts, it is not an authorization to publish them. Manuscripts cannot be used for publication without regard for common law literary rights, copyright laws and the laws of libel. It is the responsibility of the researcher and his/her publisher, to obtain permission to publish. Scholars and students who eventually plan to have their work published are urged to make inquiry regarding overall restrictions on publication before initial research.
Biographical / Historical
William P. Buford and his wife Clara Morris Buford had three sons: Nelson M., Donald L., and Marvel M. Nelson worked for Pueblo Gas and Fuel Company of Pueblo, Colorado, Donald was a traveling salesman, and Marvel farmed with his parents.
This collection contains the family's personal papers and provides a glimpse into daily life in Kansas in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Wichita State University Linraries, Special Collections and University Archives, purchased the materials from Carmen Valentino on July 28, 2002.
